Adelaide Schools introduces Wangaratta District Specialist School in Wangaratta, for all your education and learning needs.
Wangaratta District Specialist School is a dual mode specialist school for students with intellectual disabilities. It is located in the City of Wangaratta, some 260km north east of Melbourne.
The school is a major special education service provider to the north eastern areas of the state, a responsibility which it shares with Belvoir S.D.S. (Wodonga) to the north east, Cobram S.D.S. to the north, Seymour Specialist School to the south and Verney Rd. School (Shepparton) to the west. Wangaratta District Specialist School’s catchment area is defined in the context of its proximity to these facilities. Most of its students are drawn from Wangaratta and Benalla.
Wangaratta District Specialist School faces the challenge of providing both a Special Development School and Day Special School curriculum across a P-12 age range. The school is an important source of information and management strategies for all schools in the Wangaratta area and a major source of support for parents. The staff at the Wangaratta District Specialist School are committed to, and accept responsibility for providing a comprehensive and integrated educational experience for all students.
The small teacher/pupil ratio enables the school to provide quality programs in the seven key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Health and Physical Education, Studies of Society and Environment and The Arts. The curriculum is supported by enrichment programs involving cultural events, excursions to both local and wider ranging venues and selected outdoor education activities.
Welcome to Wangaratta District Specialist School one of the popular educators in your Wangaratta area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other's uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
