Self determination is fostered by encouraging student involvement and student ownership of the rules, consequences and decisions at an individual, classroom and whole school level, whilst maintaining flexibility for teachers to implement non-negotiable rules and consequences where appropriate.

River Valleys Democratic Style to Behavioural Management is fair, consistent, clear in direction and boundaries, with immediate and longer term rewards for appropriate behaviour and follow up consequences which reflect any inappropriate behaviour.

Where appropriate, students will undergo behaviour training and counselling.
