St Joseph's School is located in the north-east town of Kununurra, in Western Australia, in the idyllic setting of the East Kimberley. Kununurra is 825km to the south-west of Darwin and 3214km to the north-east of Perth.
St Joseph’s is an educational community which provides a caring environment where the dignity of each person is nurtured through knowledge and understanding of self, respect of cultural heritages and the love of God.
Our goals at St Joseph’s are:
We offer a Catholic Education, teaching Christian values and perspectives. We aim to integrate faith and life in all areas of the curriculum. The Religious Education program includes preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism (if required), Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist are celebrated in Years 4 and 5 respectively whilst Confirmation is conferred in Year 6.
The comprehensive curriculum at St Joseph’s is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and provides for each student’s academic, physical, creative and emotional development. Learning is facilitated through a developmental approach that emphasises cooperative learning, inquiry and the use of technology. We provide a relevant, comprehensive and varied curriculum to suit a wide range of student needs, interests and abilities. We also provide a range of specialist programmes throughout the school including Reading Recovery, Literacy Support, Music, ICT (Technology) and Physical Education.
